With over the 60,000 visitors a year, the Annapurna region has long been the most famous region amongst trekkers. Annapurna Base Camp trek is for those who wish to do a short and easy trek in Nepal want to enjoy mesmerizing mountain views Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a spectacular short trek on foot to the South Face of Annapurna I an incredible hike into the dazzling natural amphitheater formed by the staggeringly beautiful peaks of the giant Annapurna, Glacier Dome, Gangapurna, Fang and the fishtail peak of Machhapuchhre You will trek your way trough cultivated fields beautiful oak forests and mangolia and dense rhododendron forest charming tradition Gurung, Magar and Thakali villages will line your path before arriving at top of the ridge of Ghorepani. The entire trip is so exhilarating that you will be kept enthralled, day after day. The trek will be even more interesting during spring as the entire forest along the trails turns into a riot of colors with the reds, pinks, yellow, lavender and whites of rhododendrons flowers. We ascend Poon hill (3210 m) before day break for the spectacular mountain panorama at sunrise over Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Hiuchuli, Annapurna South and the fluted peak of Machhapuchhre. As we enter the Modi Khola valley and gain height, the valley narrows to a steep sided gorge until we pass through the of the Sanctuary to emerge into its heart, a beautiful natural amphitheater surrounded by gigantic snow-capped mountains. The mountain views are flawless, the variety of scenery is hard to match and the villages and monasteries you pass offer an exotic slice of Nepalese, Tibetan and Trans-Himalayan cultures.
With a morning wake up guide will pick up you and transfer to the tourist bus station and drive (approximately seven hours with break) through the beautiful river view and Nepalese countryside to reach Pokhara lakeside and transfer you to the hotel the rest of the time exploring surrounding lakeside areas and overnight at hotel.
This morning we will drive for about 45 Km. This drive offers you the best view of the Annapurna Himalayan Range with terraced landscapes and villages and then descending to the Nayapul. From there our trek begins in this warm sub tropical region. The walk follows the Modi River upstream to Birethanti and follows the east bank of Bhurungdi Khola with scenery of waterfalls, high green forest picturesque trails and finally reaching Tikhedhunga. Lunch will be eaten en route. Walking distance is four hours and we will stay overnight at Tikhedhunga village where you can enjoy the cool splash of the cascading waterfalls.
The trail steeply ascends on the long stone steps to Ulleri village with scenery of terrace landscapes and the Annapurna Himalaya. After a few hours of long hard climbing with several breaks in between we reach Ulleri village. From here the path is gradual on the winding trail through the cool shade of forest. The walk continues with a few short up and down sections. Walking in the midst of a giant rhododendron forest we finally reach Ghorepani after a good 5-6 hours of trekking
To catch the magnificent splendor of sunrise over the Himalayas, we make an early morning hike along the steep trail to the viewpoint of Poon Hill (3200m). Poon Hill (3210m/10529 ft) is a great viewpoint from where we will be able to enjoy wonderful panoramic closest views of more that 20 highest mountains including the close-up views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Tukche himalayan range. The snowy peaks of the high mountains loom above and around us glowing in the morning light. After taking photos and having some coffee, tea or hot chocolate, we return back to tea house at Ghorepani. After breakfast, you make a winding climb along mountain ridges, through pine and rhododendron forests and pass by small mountain villages known as Durali (2960m). After that, you descend to the Banthanti, to turn off to Tadapani (2540m)
Today's trail descends to Kimrong stream through the forest of rhododendron. We then walk towards Chhomrong crossing through Gurjung village. Chhomrong offers you close views of Mt. Annapurna south and Hiuchuli and the virgin peak, Fishtail (Machhapuchhre)
From Chhomrong the trail descends to Chhomrong Khola, then the trail begins a slow climb as we head up to our first destination -Sinuwa. We then proceed to Kuldi Ghar (2470m) about 2 and half to 3 hours walking. The trek now enters the upper Modi Khola valley. We can expect snow from there on in the winter months (Dec-Feb). We continue our trek going down to Bamboo through an uninhabited forest area. Scattered with big rocks. From Bamboo the road will take us through bamboo and rhododendron forests to Dobhan (2540m) (6 hours)
After climbing 300 meters up we will first pass the Himalayan Hotel at 2840 meters. We then continue on to Hinko Cave (3100m) and then onto Deurali. During this day if we are lucky we can see interesting wildlife like deer, Jackals and peacocks. Here we will also have great views of Machhapuchhre mountain (6997 m) and you will understand why the translation of it name means Fishtail mountain. In Deurali we will stay overnight (5 and half hours )
The day begins with climb to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3900m). The trail continues upwards, on a good path, to the south of the moraine. This is the highlight of the trip and affords us marvelous close up views of mountains that make up this incredible natural amphitheater. On arrival at ABC we get a superb view of near vertical south face of Annapurna that towers above the Sanctuary to the north-west and which was climbed in 1970 by Don Whillans and Gougal Haston on an expedition leb by Chris Bonington. We arrive at ABC mid-morning which allows ample time to explore the surrounding area and take some stunning photographs.
Today we follow our way back to Sinuwa the descend is a much easier trek
From Bamboo Sinuwa we follow the stone steps that lead to lower Chhomrong. Then we ascend the thousand stony steps taking us to upper Chhomrong. From Chhomrong we descend to Jhinu Dada. We get an opportunity to enjoy the hot springs laying just a 15 min walk from Jhinu Dada. Overnight in Jhinu Dada.
Trek from Jhinu Dada to New Bridge and then to Kyumi village. After lunch, we trek to Syauli bazar and then down to Biethanti. After about less then an hour trek from Birethanti, we will arrive at Naya pul. The trek ends at Naya Pul. From Naya Pul we drive in a local available vehicle and reach Pokhara in about an hour. Around late afternoon, overnight at hotel in Lakeside.
In the morning we'll drive back through the scenic countryside and en route will stop for breakfast and lunch. It takes 7 hours back to Kathmandu.
